Sunday January 25, 2026, at the Karibe Hotel, the Ministry of Women's Affairs organized the graduation ceremony of the first "Mylourie Sylfrard" promotion, of 289 mother-daughters and women beneficiaries of the Socio-economic Integration Project for girls graduating in sectors traditionally reserved for men.

The ceremony took place in the presence of several personalities including the godmother of the promotion, Ms. Raïna Forbin, executives of the Ministry, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of UN agencies, members of the Minister's cabinet as well as several actors from civil society, in particular managers of training centers, partners and relatives of the graduates.

For her part, Minister Pedrica Saint Jean underlined the symbolic nature of this graduation, marking the culmination of a training course in professions still largely dominated by men. She highlighted the diversity of sectors chosen by the beneficiaries, particularly in the fields of construction, electricity, solar energy and new technologies while reaffirming the State's desire to break gender stereotypes and promote real equality of opportunity.

The Minister also insisted on the economic empowerment of women as a lever for social justice, community resilience and social cohesion, recalling that this initiative is part of the 2014-2034 Equality Policy and contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in terms of reducing inequalities and access to decent work. She also welcomed the support of the Government, in particular that of the Prime Minister, which enabled the extension of the program to new departments in the country.

Mrs. Shedelie Phanor, one of the winners of this first cohort, spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries and expressed her gratitude to the authorities and the project partners, while urging her colleagues to promote the skills acquired and to practice their professions with professionalism, in order to become references for other women wishing to break preconceived ideas linked to certain professions.

At the end of the interventions, the ceremony continued with the official presentation of the parchments, testifying to the efforts and journey of the learner-beneficiaries of this first cohort. The distribution of professional kits and the provision of an envelope to graduates, in order to facilitate their professional integration and support the start of their income-generating activities.
